Open access here. Abstract. The aim of this article is to introduce some analytical concepts suitable for ethnographers dealing with social media environments. In recent years Digital Ethnography, or the application of qualitative ethnographic enquiry to online data has become an expanding field of research.In this two day workshop we offer a crash course in the basic methods of digital ethnography and a tutored hands-on experience within a mini research project. At present, there is a big misunderstanding about digital anthropology: some scholars believe that the gap between virtual and reality are blurring. According to the author, some scholars distinct reality and virtuality based on dichotomy and use obvious sociological methods to distinguish the virtual world from the real world which is an imprudent method.
